Bliss.....elk-style.

This photo was taken at a local farm field.
This particular farmer raises Elk for their antlers ( exported to the Orient ) and meat which he sells farm gate.
Beautiful animals they NEVER seem to be stressed at all and the theme of 'bliss' seemed to be particularly appropriate.

  1. Magnificent creatures. Someone used to raise Elk not far from where I grew up. Brings back delightful memories. My favorite is the one in the center with the bird on its back. I would say the theme fits very well.

  2. Your processing makes the grass look soft which adds to the peaceful feeling of this fine image.

  4. I'm glad someone noticed the bird!
They sure are lovely looking animals.
We also have a few farmers in the neighborhood raising buffalo and/or Beefalo.
I'll grab some pictures one day out.

  5. They are magnificent looking animals, do they drop their antlers or are they removed forcibly?

  6. I believe both.
I'm pretty sure that like the deer and moose in this area they do shed seasonally.....these antlers are called....duh...sheds but I would imaging that for commercial purposes they are sawed off.
I had goats and my friend has sheep that both need doing from time to time and it's completely painless....like cutting your fingernails.
