Silly bird chats with his 'perch-pal' every morning.

Morning Routine for the Evening Grosbeak.

This bird comes and sits and chatters every morning to his bronze buddy, his perch pal, a fellow limb lover, a fine feathered friend but never gets a reply.

Patience......we should all learn from the birds.

He never gives up.

Or she.....who knows?

  4. So cute. He is a male. As a child I always wondered why they got that name because I thought they were attractive and not "gross." Glad you are able to enjoy him each day.

  5. Two Apples.....My guess is that the 'gros' is from the french...gros meaning large.
I'm not sure but my French is pretty good and that's my best guess.
I always wondered why they are 'evening grosbeaks' ad we always see them in the morning...and all day long.
We also get 2 or 3 other varieties of Grosbeaks...have to ask my wife which ones they are though but I'll get some pics of them.

  6. Thanks for the info. What you said about their name would make sense as their beaks seem larger in proportion to their head/body than most birds. lol I guess no one told them what their name was.

  7. Hilarious! We have a silly REAL dove that sits in line behind a family of FAKE quail in our front yard...he seems to say, "are we there yet?" :)

  8. here is a picture of another of the 3 or 4 types of Grosbeaks that come here.
Not sure of it's proper name but i call it a red-breasted one.
For someone in the know PLEASE enlighten me as to what it's correct name is.
I don't know how to force the pic to go below the original one so it will probably place itself on top.
