Macro-hopper.

Caught this guy on the deck the other day just relaxing and getting some sun.
I took it in macro mode and no matter how close I got he never moved.
Dead or asleep...I don't know but I was within an inch or so when I took this one.
I love his shiny green coat.

  4. Seeing one grasshopper on his own is fine, but earlier this year we were caught out having to drive through a plague of locusts and that was not a lot of fun, the car's grille was a mess as was the windscreen...

  5. Sounds like fun.
The only thing we get in 'plague' proportions is army caterpillars...like the tent ones except they travel instead of infesting the bushes.
About every 6 or 7 years we get a LOT.

  6. I like how the surroundings make the grasshopper the star of this photo. Very striking contrast.
